Who We are
J.P. Enns Construction is located in Altona. Owned by John Enns with his son Jonathan, they have quickly established themselves as a premier drain tile installer in southern Manitoba.
Our History
John P. Enns was a farmer in the Dominion City area in the mid 50’s. For three years in a row, the farm was drowned out by excessive rainfall. In 1957, he bought his first excavator and started doing service connections for another contractor. The company quickly grew to operating a small fleet of equipment and a handful of workers.
Over the next fifty years, the company’s small size and efficiency let it compete against the bigger contractors to install rural water lines with a chain trencher. The next step was to purchase a directional drill that would enable longer and more accurate drill shots into houses and across roads. As the water line era ended, the company purchased a drain tile plow to install fiber optic cable.
Now as we look back we realize that we have gone back to the roots of farming. While we cannot save John P. Enns’s farm, we can try to help other farmers so their story can be a positive one. There is only so much land available and we believe it crucial for farms to be as efficient and productive as possible with what the good Lord has blessed them with.
